Nepal Garden Assessment

A report produced by SCALE (Strengthening Capacity in Agriculture, Livelihoods and Environment), an initiative funded by the USAID’s Office of Food for Peace, in collaboration with Save the Children, presents the findings from a study of permagarden and kitchen-garden activities.

The main objective of the study was to assess the impact of these gardens on household food security and identify any associated income and nutrition benefits.

The study also investigated the adoption rates of new farming technologies and practices, and assessed to what extent the gardens helped people cope with two of the most prevalent shocks and stresses in the program area: crop pests and disease, and water shortages.
